Looking for Reece of Georgia
I'm searching for my lost maternal grandfather Alfred Monroe Reece. He was born in Georgia on Sept. 30, 1874. He married his first wife Fannie N. around 1898 and they had nine children that I know of. Their names were Agnes, Daisy, Lela, Lema, William, Charles, Alfred, Maggie and a boy who's name is unknown to us. Fannie died around 1932 and my grandfather married my grandmother Irene Herring. They had one daughter, Eunice Irene who was born in 1943 (Alfred was in his late sixties). They marriage lasted only a short time. Alfred left when my mother was around a year old so my mother never knew him. My grandmother would never speak of him and she destroyed all photos of him. This has left a big missing piece in my mothers heart, a piece that I hope I can fill for her. They only thing my grandmother ever said about him was that she thought he died in Florida when my mother was around 4 years of age but we have no proof of that. I can find nothing about his death. Apparently he never filed for a social security card. As for occupation, he was a tenant farmer his whole life. To make things more confusing for us he has also signed his name as Alford. We have only his signature on my mothers birth certificate and his old WWII ration booklet. This is all have of this man. We hope someone can help us fill in the missing pieces.
