Whitt

Whitt, Robert enlisted in the Rev. War from Ameila Co., Va. b. 1755.
Married Peggy White in Montgomery Co., VA. They moved to Logan Co., Va which I believe was bounty land, for his service in the war.
Later, Robert Whitt came into Ohio with two of his sons. Then went back to Logan Co., where He applied for his pention. His oldest son, Robert, Jr., never left Logan Co., and raised his family there. Robert, Srs., second son, Edward which is our line.
The Whitt name is recorded back to 1624 in Charles City Co., VA.

Stemen

Christian Stemann b. 1747 Rt. Redstone, Lancaster Co., PA; around the approximate vicinity of present day Pittsburg, PA. Due to Indian strife the area whites were scattered about. Sometime later,Christian change their name to Stemen.
Family Bible states he married Hannah Barin in 1770
Our next connection with this family is in Rockingham Co., VA. in a census record. Christian is named with his oldest son.
They moved first back to Redstone, now Fayette Co., and from there on into Ohio.
They worked their way, litterally, clearing land settling first in Fairfield Co., OH, then into Lima, Allen Co., Ohio. There Christian, Sr. is buried in Salem Mennonite Cemetery. One of the first burials in the Cemetery.

Runyon, John

John Runyon, Sr of Brocks Gap, Rockingham Co., VA

Looking for a positive connection to the NJ Runyons.

The Children of this family eventually married and moved into Ohio, KY, etc. being a prolific family they are everywhere now.

Hoffmire, Samuel

Samuel Hoffmire B. in NJ
Married Sarah Conroy NJ
Moved to Bedford Co., PA then to Knox Co., Ohio
Samuel fought in the Revolutionary War and is listed in the DAR.
He fought for a time in Ohio.

This Hoffmire family originates in the Netherlands, came to America first to NY, occupation was running a fish market, sold it, then migrated to NJ. Samuel is a name common in the family which confused researchers as to who was father and son.
