WRIGHT FAMILY IN CANADA

WHOOPS- I added all my information under the Lundy Family Forest as my Wright Family married back into my Lundy family - it all becomes very complicated......my Wright family - James Wright and Maria Garrard- arrived in Canada in 1832 from Engalnd and settled in Guelph. They were very instrumental in developing the road between Guelph and Brock and served politically in that area for years. My great grandmother Josephine Lundy married Daniel Smith Wright and had nine children. They homesteaded in the late 1800's in Manitoba and after Daniel's death Josephine and her children moved back to Newmarket. My grandmother married her first cousin - a Lundy - so the circle started again......

A number of the Wright family members also homesteaded in Alberta and some moved into the Northern states as well.

Lundy Family Forest

I started researching my family tree some years ago (about 5 years now) but then crashed my darn computer and am trying to relocate all my notes and reenter it - of course I keep getting off the track and find new information about another branch which interests me so its taking longer than initially planned. I've always been facinated with our family name as we learned about the Battle of 1812 which was fought on Lundy's Lane - my dad used to talk about visiting cousins there and playing on the fields where the war was fought. From what I understand there were a number of Lundy brothers and sisters who ventured into Canada just before and around the time of the American Revolution - some remained in the area of Niagara (always amazing me to think what these settlers must have thought when they came upon Naigara Falls in their travels) - a number of others travelled northeast and settled in Uxbridge, Ontario and East Gwillemby (Newmarket area) which is actually the direct family I am from. My dad's grandmother Jospehine Lundy married Daniel Smith Wright whose family had come to Canada in 1832. The Wright family was very instrucmental in settling the Guelph area and actually built the road betweenGuelph and Brock - Josephine and Daniel and 9 children and during their marriage moved and homesteaded in Manitoba in the late 1800's where my grandmother ws born. After the death of Daniel in 1905 Josephine returned to Newmarket with her 9 children and worked to support them all along with the help of her older sons. My grandmother in turn married her first cousin ( which I guess accounts for my brain cells at times) - he being a Lundy - so I have the Lundy family TWICE in my family tree!!!

My mom's famiy came to Canada in 1910 - William Pattison and his wife Annie McVean Pattison and their oldest son John arrived in Toronto in search of his younger sister who was reported to be in a very bad marriage. They like it and remained there.

I have a fair amount of information on the Lundy, Wright and Pattison families but can always fill in the branches and am always looking for "stories' - and if anyone has pictures - WOW
