I have a story in my family of one of my great grandmothers sisters having lost her leg.
I have found articles in New zealand news papers including Southland Times August 28 1882. I believe this accident was her sister Christina. My grandmother was also called Christina I believe named after her.
Other articles in the NZ Papers say she died from jumping off a tram. Had her leg amputated & died 5 days later
She is buried in Eastern Cemetry Home Services A-ZCemeteriesCemetery search

So I was able to find her parents buried with her. I never knew their names until I found this.
The only reference I can find of Hans is Bankruptancy notice 1888.
So I presume life was very hard for them to make a living with all I've read about early Danish Immigrants to New Zealand.
I would be very pleased to hear from anyone who is related to my relatives
Thanks Marj Hutchison(nee Saward)
I have found articles in the New Zealand newspapers of Christina Hansen having lost her leg & died falling off a tram in NZ in August 1882.
I believe her to be my great grandmothers Annie Olivia Hansen's sister as there is a story in our family of grandma's sister having lost a leg. The death notice still doesn't say who her parents were, but she was buried in the Eastern Cemetry Invercargill with Hans & Johanna who I believe were her parents(so my GG grandparents. Anyone related to these I would love to be in contact with Thanks Marj

They had 15 children one being my Grandmother Christina Olivia (married Louis Saward Burnie Tasmania) She came to Tasmania in 1907 with Louis & family when she was 38 years old & he was 64 years old.
Annie died 23/12/1952 in hospital in Melbourne after a one year illness age 83 years, She is buried at Wivenhoe Cemetry Burnie
My Great Great Grandparents were Hans & Johanna arrived NZ about 1881 from Copenhagen Denmark with their children Next year 1882 one of their daughters Christina fell under a tram & lost her leg & died 5 days later. My Great Grandmother was their daughter Annie Olivia & her daughter Christina Anderson was my Grandmother. She was born in Invercargill, married & came to Tasmania as did Annie with her husband Louis Anderson married Dec 1884.
Any info as to what area in Denmark they came from . Other Relatives in NZ. Annie was the only one to come to Tasmania I believe. Any help would be appreciated.
I also believe Hans & Johanna had the New River Ferry & Hotel.
Hans, Johanna & Christina are all buried together at the Eastern Cemetrey Invercargill
