An accommodation house on Lake Mahinapua, Westland, New Zealand owned by my great grandmother, was burnt down in February 1903.
The Paperspast report says it was insured for 150 pounds with each of the Imperial Insurance Company and the Northern Insurance Company.
Can anyone please help with information on either or both of these insurance companies? I would be most interested in looking at their record of the claim.
I have information on my great grandmother, nine year old Maria Frances Freeman arriving in Nelson, New Zealand ,as an assisted passenger, along with her mother and siblings on the Golconda on 27 December, 1859. Her father Thomas, a bootmaker, had arrived earlier in October 1858.
I next have her marrying Stuart Fane Ogilvie in Hokitika twenty tears later in 1879 in Hokitika, New Zealand.
I would appreciate any information on her in the 20m year gap.
Mary McCloughen has many variations on the spelling of her surname!
She was born in King's County, Ireland round 1832. She migrated to Australia, met a Joseph Fishwick, came to New Zealand as Mr and Mrs Fishwick, later married him in Hokitika and drowned there in 1887.
Ellen English was born in Tipperary about 1800, married William Boyd,in Wollongong, NSW, Australia in January 1842.
My Maunders came from the Devon villages of Washfield, Cruwys Morchard and Cheriton Fitzpaine
I am looking for any details on the arrival of a Thomas Freeman who emigrated from London some time between June 1857 and arrived in Wellington by October 1858
