Thomas Carroll was born in 1784 and died in 1832. He was married to Mary Hatton, who was born in 1786 and died in 1870. We do not know when they left Cork for the United States, where they settled in western Virginia. Their son, Joshua N? or M? Carroll was born 1823 and died 1885. He married Catherine Thomas who was born 1830 and died 1880. Their son, my great grandfather, was born Sept 12, 1864. He first married Emma Robertson in 1883. She was born in 1861 and died in 1896 in Nelson Cty, Virginia. They had six children: Florence, Ella, John, Lula, Charles Floyd, and Joseph C Carroll.
In 1899, he married Nannie Vanderslice Carroll, (Carroll married a Carroll). She was born in Warmister, VA in 1881 and died in Leslie, Greenbrier Cty, WV in 1951.
They had 7 or 8 children, Walker, Ross, Clifford Andrew (my grandfather), Randolph, Wilber Vanderslice, Richard (Carl), Myrtle, and possibly James, who may have died as an infant. My grandfather, Clifford Andrew Carroll was born in Nelson Cty, VA on June 30, 1906. He died in April 1974 in New Martinsville, WV. He married my grandmother Daisy G. Branham in 1926. She was born Aug 26, 1909 and died in August 1982 in New Martinsville, WV .
They had 4 children Clifford Andrew ( my father)Shirley, Catherine, & Benny Frankin Carroll.
