CONGRAM descendant

John CONGRAM married Agnes DODD in the Swimbridge, Devon, Cathedral. I would like to think that the celebrant was John Russell. Parson John "Jack" Russell, Vicar of Swimbridge in Devon, acquired his first terrier while studying at Oxford and it is from here that the Jack Russell dog breed originated.

John's daughter Louisa CONGRAM married James William HARRISON at Donnybrook, Victoria. Their son James George HARRISON was my paternal grandfather. He married Clara Ann CRAWFORD at Narrandera NSW.

Perhaps this is where I get my love for dogs, however anyone with CONGRAM connections, please contact me.

Looking for BYRON of New Zealand and Sydney

I was adopted and, although I have found my birth parents, both are now deceased and tracking family history is a real challenge.

My maternal grandfather was James William BYRON. He married Alice Mary DARRAGH on 28 July 1923 in Wellington NZ. His marriage certificate says he was born in Melbourne Australia but I have not found any birth record in either NZ or Australia.

The couple migrated to Sydney at an unknown time and lived in Bondi. Alice passed away in 1946 and James died in 1971 but there are no further clues about his identity on the death certificate.

I have only anecdotal information that Jim was a magician when he lived at Bondi and gave his "tools of trade" away to someone in Darlinghurst.

I would love to learn more about grandpa BYRON. Perhaps someone out there knows something......
