This is a genealogical record of a family that emigrated from England to Massachusetts in the first half of the seventeenth century and, shortly after that, as Quakers, helped to establish New Jersey. During the American Revolution, the great-grandson of the Hon. Samuel Moore, also named Samuel, was loyal to the Crown and his property was confiscated by the government. In 1783, he moved to Nova Scotia. Around 1811, some of his children moved to Upper Canada (now Ontario) and he eventually followed. Many of his sons and grandsons were charged with treason for their participation in the 1837 Rebellion in Upper Canada. By 1840, some of the family had emigrated to the U.S.A. and we descend from those that remained in Canada.
