I have a hit a brick wall in researching both sides of my family If anyone can help I'm trying to find out about my Great Grandfather on my mothers side His name was Charles Frederick Browne he went by (Frederick) he was born in Germany around 1869 His mothers name was Antonia (nee Froemmming-I think cant quiet make out the writing) his fathers name was Frederick Charles at some stage he came to New Zealand and Married my great grand mother Jessie May Plowman he died 19/09/1934 in New Zealand in Auckland No one new he was German until I recently obtained his marriage certificate and I'm totally stuck on where to look or how to find out more info on him My guess is Browne wasn't really his name we think it was Braun if any one can help Id be so grateful

My dads mum always told him that she had an affair and wasn't going to say who his dad was but she was a spiteful woman who could have said this just to hurt him as she really didn't like her children anyway Her name was Nellie Hirst born 1913 in Patea New Zealand sometimes she spelt it Nellie she was married to a Jack Cooper in December 1933 They Divorced in October 1940 and my dad was born in march 1941 so 5 months after the divorce Jacks parent are listed on the marriage certificate as George Cooper and Mary Laura Cooper marys maiden name is also listed as cooper Jack was born in Wanganui and was a farmer It is also Likely Jack wasn't His actual name I would really love to try find out more info and maybe even find a picture of jack to see if my father looks anything like him as my dad would to try find out if he was his father or not Before its too late for him
