Hello from Queensland, Australia.

I think my ancestors who came to Chilton Foliat were RICHARD KEMP and wife Christien (nee Stoat). A couple by this name had children there, one of whom was JOHN KEMP b/bap in 1715 in St Mary's, Chilton Foliat.

Over time I understand they settled in the area and began a line of KEMPs who I can follow reasonably well.

HENRY KEMP is a grandson of JOHN KEMP. Henry is my great great grandfather. Henry was bap in 1799 in St Mary's, Chilton Foliat. He was the youngest child of WILLIAM KEMP and Ann (nee Ambrose).

Henry moved to London and I think he married [the] Isabella Martha Wright [who was born there], in 1835; they married at St Andrew's, Holborn. (Pallot's Marriage Index)

I think Isabella was 3 years older than Henry. She died in 1852. Henry remarried in 1858.

Henry and Isabella had 3 children; the youngest is my great grandfather, GEORGE KEMP.

George Kemp married Jane Rebekah Green in 1881 and their son, GEORGE WILLIAM KEMP is my grandfather.

Grandpa emigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1912.

Grandpa's elder son, my Father, was born in 1919.

I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE ALIVE IN CHILTON FOLIAT IS ABLE TO HELP ME WITH LOCAL KNOWLEDGE. I understand that LEVERTON, a hamlet near CHILTON FOLIAT is the land my KEMP ANCESTORS may have inhabited and worked.
