ALBERT EDWARD BIRD of Sheffield and later Australia

My great grandfather was Albert Edward Bird, son of William Bird and Sarah Mosley. He was born in Sheffield Yorkshire on 15 August 1846. He was brought to Australia in 1869 to run professionally, being promoted as "Long Distance Champion of England". He had an outsatnding athletics career in England and later Australia and New Zealand.

I would like to make contact with anyone with Bird family connection in Sheffield, or Wolverhampton where Alberts ancestors came from, or in Australia.

DONALD McDONALD and CATHERINE MacQUARRIE

Hi
Donald McDonald was born abt 1785 on Isle of Gometra Aryll. He married Catherine MacQuarrie, born 1804 on Isle of ULva, at Oskamull on Isle of Mull in 1826. Catherine was a cousin of Lachlan Macquarrie Governor early Governor of New South Wales.

Donald died in 1847 and shortly afterwards Catherine and her family were subject to the highland clearances; and Catherine and her 10 children emigrated to Victoria Australia. The family settled in Branxholme, a country town in western Victoria. Her childrens' names were Niel, Euphemia, Ann, Malcom, Margaret, Flora, Mary, Sarah,Catherine and Christina.

I would like to make contact with anyone who may be related to the McDonald/MacQuarrie families.

GUNN FAMILY of CAITHNESS & later TASMANIA AUSTRALIA

Hi

My Gunn ancestors came from Caithness Scotland, dating back to Charles Gunn and Margaret Cormack in early 1700's. Later generations lived around Bilbster, Watten & Stemster areas. My great x 2 grandparents, Alexander Gunn born 1811 and Barbara Nicolson born 1816 both came from Stemster. They married in 1838 and emigrated to Tasmnaia Australia, arriving in 1839. They lived in Launceston and had 11 children, one daugher Mary Ann, is my great grandmother born 1849. She married William Craw in 1869.

Looking to find anyone researching Gunn and Craw families. The Craw family came from Edinburgh.

KENNEDY FAMILY of APPLECROSS and later

My Keendy ancestors came from Applecross on west coast of Scotland. My g x 3 grandparents John Kennedy and Anne Campbell were married in Applecross around 1820. Their only son John, was born in 1822 and married Floa McKinnon in 1843 at Ardelve ROC. They had 8 children, one of whom, John born 1857, married Isabella McKenzie in 1882 at Lower Kincraig ROC. One of their daughters, Isabella is my grandmother, born 1890. She married Peter Watt of Alford Aberdeenshire in 1912, after which they emigrated to Melbourne Australia.

I would like to find out more about my Kennedy ancestors and would like to make contact with anyone researching the Kennedy family.

Laird family of Aberdeenshire

I would like to make contact with other people researching the Laird family of Aberdeen

My family is as follows

Alexander laird born abt 1843 Dyce Aberdeenshire and Mary Smith
their son William born 14 May 1867 Tarves ABD. He married Catherine Nichol on 2 July 1887 at Methlick ABD. They had 7 children Maggie, Thomas, James, Mary, Elsie, Helen and Harry born 28 March 1889 at Keig. He married Jane Duguid Hall on 1 March 1922,They ahd 2 childre Harry Benzie and James. Harry married Vida McWilliam on 11 Nov 1961 at Tough ABD.

McKENZIE FAMILY OF GAIRLOCH

My McKenzie ancestors come from the Gairloch area of Western Scotland. My G x3 Grandparents Murdoch McKenzie and Catherine McDonald were Married about 1803 at Diabaig. My great x 2 granfather Duncan was born in Port Henderson on 28 Feb 1807 marrying Ann McPherson in a832. They had 7 children including my great grandmother Isabella born in 1860 in Port Henderson. The family moved east to area around Fearn in early 1860s. Isabella married John Kennedy in Lower Kincraig in 1886.

I would like to make contact with anyone with possible family connections.

WATT family of Aberdeenshire

Hi

My grandfather, Peter Watt was born in Alford on 8 March 1887 and came to Australia with his wife Isabella Kennedy in 1912 settling in Melbourne Australia. Peter's father was coachman for Lord Forbes circa 1900, living on the Forbes Estate Keig Aberdeenshire. Earlier Watt ancestors came from Kildrummy and Glenbuchat Aberdeenshire.

I would like to make contact with anyone with Watt, or Michie ancestors, from Glenbuchat, Badenyon and surrounding areas of Aberdeenshire, or Australia
