jacob THRESS came to Pomeroy, Ohio with brothers. some of the family went on to the Zanesville, Ohio area and this is the family from which I come. Jacob THRESS, my gr-gr grandfather and son of the older Jacob, was the Sheriff of Zanesville, Ohio about 1900 and was called to a drowning at the river and it was his son, he was also asked to be a 'dirty cop' and that is when he resigned and became a baker at the Biscuit company in town. Believe his first wife to be Elizabeth OHLINGER. Children: Bertha, Emma Lane THRESS married Earl Lester MCINTYRE (died 1913?) and then married Martin Earl EGAN, Mayme THRESS married ? HENRY, George THRESS, and numerous other children.

Patrick the father came to US before the rest of the family, probably about 1869-70, the rest of the family came over after the 1871 English census in 1871. In 1900 they lived in Sherrodsville, Carroll Co., Ohio
