DOYLE OF KILKENNY. Patrick Joseph Doyle b. abt 1850. Signed on for the British Army in 1868. Served some time in Dublin then Cork. After that he went to India until 1883.

Patrick's father was named as Patrick Doyle - shoemaker. I don't have a mother's name so that is making it very difficult. Have done my DNA and had some replies but can't find where we come in. He could be tied up with the Fitzpatrick's of Kilkenny.

Looking for Doyle of Kilkenny, Ire to South Australia

Patrick Joseph Doyle b.c.1850 in Kilkenny, Ireland. He served with the British Army in Ireland, England and India. Patrick m. in 1881 in Jubbelpore, India to Amelia Rebeira (of Portugese/Indian descent). Amelia b.c. 1862 daughter of Francis Rebeira, Labourer. Patrick and Amelia came via ship to South Australia, leaving India in March 1883 and arriving in April 1883. Amelia ended up in the Destitute Asylum in Adelaide whilst Patrick looked for work at Wirrabara. He secured work at Mr. Mahoods property, Wirrabara and then picked up Amelia and their first child (Patrick who was born in July, 1883 in the Asylum). Patrick and Amelia shifted around in the mid north of the state - Wirrabara, Gladstone, Laura, Beetaloo Valley and then came to Warnertown and Port Pirie. Amelia is buried in Port Pirie Cemetery but Patrick's burial place is unknown. Could be buried in Western Australia as it is said he went to live with his eldest son, Patrick Joseph (Joe) Doyle in WA. Patrick and Amelia had: Patrick (divorced with no issue), Margaret Amelia Teresa Ann (died at age 15 years at Laura), Agnes Mary Matilda (divorced but was married to George Benjamin Wilson and had several children), Thomas Jerome (m. to Esther Wilson and they had 10 children), James Bernard (m. to Violet White and they had two children). Thomas and Esther were my grandparents. Thomas and Agnes were brother and sister and George Benjamin Wilson and Esther Wilson were brother and sister.
