My Great Grandfather was Henry Augustus De Sales VALENTINE, born about 1860 in Levuka, Fiji. I travelled to Fiji from Australia in 2004 to try to find more information about him, but was told by the Registrar General's Office in Suva that they only held BDM records from British Annexation (I think about 1875) and then searched some church records around Suva, but couldn't find anything on Henry.
I then went to Levuka, where he was born, and although I linked up with other Valentine descendants there and had a wonderful time, I couldn't get any more information.
I have read about Cordelia and Lydia Valentine, and I'm thinking now that my GGF Henry may have been the son of one of their brothers. If anyone reading this can tell me the names of any of Cordelia & Lydia's brothers, I would be most appreciative.
There was a record in one of the churches in Suva which had a Jeremiah or Heremiah and my Fijian cousin who was helping me suggested that "Henry" could be an Anglicised version of these names.
