John McFadden immigrated to Philadelphia, PA, USA about 1811 from Ireland. He was born about 1795 and died in Philadelphia in 1864. He and his wife Sarah lived in Perry County, Pennsylvania in 1830 where their son Charles W. McFadden was born. They were living in Philadelphia by 1840.

George Hartley (1763-1824)was born in Philadelphia, PA, USA and was married to Ann Bates (1776-1827). Family traditions say the Hartley's were from Lincolnshire, England. I have found a Seaman's Protection Certificate stating George Hartley immigrated to Philadelphia from Dantzig where he was born via Amsterdam. Those same documents say his father's name was also George. I believe this is a different George Hartley.
