On Ann RUTHVEN...
Ann was the daughter of Sime Ruthven and Margaret Connell, born 27 August 1820 in Edinburg, emigrated to the United States in 1839, married Charles Beere in New York City in 1841. She is one of the heirs listed in a sasine for Edinburgh as follows:
"4856 Jul. 6 1824.
Elizabeth Majoribanks Ruthven, Jane Ruthven, Catherine Connell Ruthven, Jessamina Ruthven, William Ruthven, John Ruthven, and Ann Ruthven, children of Sime Ruthven of the Scotsman Office, Edinburgh, siesed, for their respective interests, Jul. 5 1824, - in the north division of a large double tenement with a plot of garden ground in front and a cellar on the north side of Brown street, par. St. Cuthberts; 0- on Disp. by John Brown, formerly farmer, Pennycuik, now residing in Edinburgh, with consent of Robert Penn, builder, Edinburgh, Jun 17, 1823.
(P.R.1024.132)
My note: One problem, the Ruthven Papers list Sime Ruthven as having no descendants.
Ruthven Papers
I just found a huge resource for anyone who has the Ruthven family line from Scotland. Its called the Ruthven papers, and it has lots of information and history of this line. It takes forever to load from pdf file, so be patient. It's worth the wait:
