My interest in genealogy started in 1998 when I "inherited" a copy of my my mother's paternal family tree. From there I decided I wanted to know more about my father's family, where they came from and their journey through the US as the US grew west. My father's tree was not nearly as well documented and what I had to start with was a hand written family tree in my baby book and a computer. I was off and running. I have gotten a lot of help from distant cousins and have reconnected with family members I knew but had lost contact with. My father's family tree and now about 2700 members strong with most branches reaching across the Atlantic to ancestral lands in Germany, Switzerland, Russia and the United Kingdom with some branches go as far back as the 16th Century. It has been fun, frustrating, confusing at times, but all in all it has been very satisfying and interesting.
