This is what I know so far:

Celia (Altschuler) and Joseph Andert from Novgorod, Russia (this is what the family says but I have no proof of this. I have checked Ellis Island, and the Jewish GenWeb - could find nothing. Both of these people were Jewish, this much I know.

Celia Altschuler
Born. April 29, 1978 - Novgorod, Russia
Went to - to Manhattan, NY @ 1895(?)
I think I found them in the 1920 census for Manhattan.

Children of Celia and Joseph
Sarah H - born 1916 but I am not sure where.(Now deceased) Sarah married Wesley Beebe and they had - Joseph, Brenda, David and Gayle. I was married to David E. Beebe. All of the children are now deceased also. They all lived in Eastford, CT most of their lives.

Irving - born in 1917(?) Living in Eastford, CT still. Have talked to him, but does not remember much of anything

Celia and Joseph moved to Eastford, CT (Windham county) but do not know when.

Solomon - born 11/3/1923 in Eastford, CT(?) Now deceased

Celia died - Dec 11, 1961(was living in Eastford, CT - could have died in Putnam Hospital - not sure if she died at home in Eastford or at the hospital in Putnam, CT

Joseph Andert -
Born - February 1888 in Novgorod, Russia(?)

Went to - Manhattan, NY in 1895(?)

Died - September 13, 1924 in Eastford, CT of typhoid fever - I have newspaper article from the Hartford Courant in Hartford, CT to verify this.

According to the article, Celia has a sister with 2 children in 1924.

I have not been able to find out anything else about Celia or Joseph.

I would like to know when they came to the US and was it from Novgorod, Russia? Who were their parent, sisters, brothers, other relatives. Any names and or dates you can give me.

If you need any further information please, please contact me.

I know I am asking a lot, but I have searched everywhere I can with the limited resources that I have and can find very little.

Yes, I am finding a little bit on Ancestry.com so far. If you go by the census info (and it must be them, the children's names match); Then Joseph was b. abt. 1886 and Celia was b. abt. 1889 or 1890. So either Celia was a woman who lied about her age or her death record is off on her age! I think the death record is off because if she had been born in 1878 she would have been about 45 when she had Solomon...not impossible; but her age is consistent on 1920 and 1930 censuses. My guess is that she was 73 when she died and it was a typing error. It seems like all of what I have found, you have already found...but here it goes:

1930 Eastford, Windham Co., CT US Fed. Census:

Andert, Celia; owns home, lives on farm; age 41/Widowed; b.place: Novgorod, Russia (her parents' b.place same); Spoke Hebrew before coming to US; immigration: 1906; Alien; occ: Farmer/Dairy Farm; Able to speak English
Sarah, daughter; age 14 b. NY; Father b. Novgorod, Russia; Mother b. Same
Irving, son, age 12 b. NY; parents b. Novgorod, Russia
Solomon, son, age 6 b. CT; parents b. Novgorod, Russia

So there is one source for Joseph and Celia's b.place. She was only 17 in 1906; so I wonder if they married here or in Russia. They had probably just gotten married and came over right away???

Okay, that's all stuff you've probably seen already. I am trying to look on Footnote.com. I was hoping to find naturalization info or something...but Footnote happens to be having technical difficulties right now. I did manage to search for Andert and did not find anything on your people. I searched for Altschuler and got quite a few hits in New York; but the tech. difficulties took over again...
So far I found Nat. Index records in NY for 3 Russian Altschulers:
Abraham
Percy
Jacob

I don't know if any of it will really help, but when the website is working properly again I will check it again.

Other than that, I really don't have access to anything else that will help you. My NEHGS access is mostly for pre 1900 records, so nothing comes up there.

In the 1910 census, Joseph lived in ward 12 in Manhattan:

Information - Head, Illebible or blank, 38, Russian/Yiddish R/Y R/Y, immigrated 1907, alien, carpenter-house

PARTNER:
Joseph ANDERT, 22, Russia/Yiddish R/Y R/Y, immigrated 1909, alien, baker-bakery

(REMARKS: BY ME - The first Joseph is the father of the second Joseph)


ALTSCHULER INFORMATION:

In 1910 census, Celia was single, living with her family in Brooklyn.

In 1910, David said he had applied for citizenship (PA=papers applied).

In 1925, A Dave Altschuler was naturalized through the Eastern District (NY) Courts, document #47681.

Did not find any naturalization for Joseph.

Joseph Andert was born in February, 1888 in Novgorod, Russia
died in Eastford, CT Sept 13, 1924 at the age of 36. These dates fit the son Joseph Andert.

Celia Altschuler was born April 29, 1989 in Novgorod, Russia
died in Eastford, CT December 11, 1961.
