CAMAC from NORWAY

I am researching this name for a friend. He knows that his ancestors were from Oslo in Norway and has given me some names.

Thank you to all those who have given me ways to search for Norwegian ancestors.

I have been given information that Camac is not a Norwegian surname so the name or spelling must have been changed.

I will have to try to find out just what it was.

HUETS were HUGUENOTS

Huguenot was the name given to people of a protestant religion fleeing from religious persecution in France. This happened over several centuries.People fled to countries such as Britian,Ireland,Germany,Holland,Switzerland,Sweden,Norway,America.

At one time because most of the farmers and businessmen had fled France it was in dire straits.

The Huguenots in London were probably one of the first to care for their own.Any new immigrant was given help by the church and cared for in later life, paying monies to old and widows.I think there might even be a hospital today that cares for Huguenot decendants.

Regards my Huets we know only that John Huet married Ann Seamore 2/9/1792 at St.Leonard Church,Shoreditch.Child William b.5/12/1798 bap.23/7/1798.

William married Sarah Biddle 27/1/1821 at St.Leonard Ch.Shoreditch.

Children-Sarah Elizabeth b.7/2/1823 bap.Hackney Ch.

WILSON'S FROM LINCOLNSHIRE

My WILSON family emigrated to New Zealand from Donington on Bain Lincolnshire in the 1800's.They they were from the Black Horse Inn.Their father Moses, was the Innkeeper, who was born at Bishop Norton.Their mother Sophia Enderby.Moses's father was John and mother Sarah.John's parents were Thomas Wilson and Mary Graves.Thomas and Mary were married at Tealby 3/7/1753 and they lived at Bishop Norton.
Four sons and a daughter of Moses, left their home because they couldn't get on with their step-father.
Have been unable to establish any history on Thomas.

At this time a Wilson owns the Black Horse Inn but says there is no connection.

I have found a line back to 1600's now.

BRADSHAW's of LANCASHIRE

Looking for JOSEPH CECIL BRADSHAW born 1856 app. This family of BRADSHAW's comes from around MANCHESTER area and could connect to the Bradshaw's of Staffordshire and Cheshire.
We know of the family back to 1856 and have possibilities for earlier generations.
Joseph Cecil Bradshaw(Snr) M.Emily Jane Slinger.Children- Joseph Cecil.b.1892,Arthur b.1892,George Herbert.b.1898,Ada Lilian.b.1899.
Joseph Cecil(Jnr)M.Mary Walkden in Salford.Children George A.b.1932,Lillian E.b.1934.Joseph and Brian b.1935.
Both parents died while the children were young and George and Lillianne were bought up by Arthur(their uncle) and Joseph and Brian by Ada(Known as Lillian)their aunt.

Lots of research has been done trying to find Joseph Cecil's(Snr) parents. We have Joseph Cecil(Snr) appearing first in the 1881 census with Emily Jane Slinger and have information on the family from then on.We know that they didn't have children till 1892(or any that are mentioned)I have a birth.cert.that shows that Joseph Cecil Jnr.'s mother is Emily Slinger.

ADDED; It is now thought by several researches of this family that Joseph Cecil is the Joseph Wright of George Bagnall Bradshaw's family.(Mother Mary Dorothea Champion)So Charles Champion and Joseph Cecil are brothers and seemed to keep very much in touch as they lived in the same area a lot of their lives.Actually their wives were both Emily Jane's.Charles Emily Jane Parker and Joseph's Emily Jane Slinger.

EASTER family from LONDON

Through joining find my past and being told about free bmd I have now been able to track this family back to 1700's.

I have found out possible meanings and origins of Easter.

I was doing this for my sister in law and her sons and they are now very happy to have found out about their ancestry.

Like a lot of surnames there are several possibilities and probabilities of origin.
Three for this surname are ; a topographic name for someone living east of a main settlement.
Or a habitational name from a group of villiages in Essex which got their name from the Old English "eowestre" = sheepfold
Or a nickname for someone who had some connection to the festival of Easter. From the Old English "Eastre" name given to a pagan festival.
Earliest recordings of the Surname Easter were in the 16th century.
