John Seton Hay

For 5 years I have been searching for the thread about my grandfather John Seton Hay born in 1889 in. Wadestown NZ The only info I have found is that he was in the First Reserves in WW1 as an employee of the Vacuum Oil company. My father Seton geoffrey hay was born in 1923 in St Kilda Victoria. In 1936 the family were in6th Ave Sangate. I can find no record of my father's birth (reference is made in his Airforce record) or my Grandfather or his marriage to Jessie May Ludlow. I have reached a dead end Anyone out there who can help? i am being consumed by the geanealogy pox.Marcii

My lost hay family

I have found that my grandfather John Seton Hay was son of Peter Seton Hay born in 1852 in Scotland and emigrating to New Zealand in 1860. John Seton Hay was born in Wadestown in1889. He married Jessie May Patricia Ludlow , who had been married to a John Henry ?/s who was killed in an accident with a wool truck. They had a daughter Daphne who was about 7 years older than my father Seton Geoffrey Hay, who was born in St Kilda in 1923.
My father told me his father was Austalasian Sales manager for the Vacuum Oil Company prior to WW2. in New Zealand
My dad spent most of his childhood in Sandgate Qld (sixth Avenue)
I cannot fill in the gaps about John Seton Hay and his marriage to Jessie May Ludlow

seton /Hay connection Scotland

my great grandfather was Peter Seton hay born Scotland. He named his son John Seton hay who named his son Seton Geoffrey Hay. I am wondering how I can find the connection and why this name has been carried down. I look at other records in the family and see that often the second name has a direct relationship to the mother's maiden name e.g. john Dalziel Hay. Mary Clarke Hay, Peter Clarke h but I cannot find the Seton connection as yet any help gratefully appreciated
