James Kelly b 1883-1884, Manhattan, New York City

This is my grandfather. I have never been able to find any record to establish his parents. I've searched everywhere online and spent days at the New York City archives, searched census records, made lists of NYC James Kellys, etc and still coul dn't find him. He married Winifred McCaffrey sometime between 1900 and 1905. No record of this marriage was found. The only hope I have is if there is a McCaffrey relative out there who might know of a connection. My father died in 1951 and his parents had died years before this. Kids were put in an orphanage and had no clue. My grandmothers sisblings may have the answer to this clue but I haven't found a connection to anyone currently living who might have information. Her brother was James J. McCaffry b 1786. He married Julia Smith. They had 8 children. One, Joseph James McCaffrey b 1908 had a son James Joseph McCaffrey who appears to have posted a message about 2000 but wasn't discovered by me until last year. I emailed this person but it bounced. He may have died in the interim since he probably would be about 80 years old now. One other point is that this family was closely allied to St. Bernard's Catholic Church on 14th. St in Manhattan. Most of this info I've found since my last trip to NYC. I live in Alabama now so I can't do any serching there. I'm 74 yr. old myself. If anyone recognizes something here or has a connectionn to St. Bernard's, I really need some help. In this time period the family always lived in Manhattan on the lower west side. One clue from my father, long before I got into genealogy was that he was a 6th. generation New Yorker.
