We have a fairly extensive history recorded. Now Looking to "mop up" the mystery ones.
Therefore I am looking for descendants of Joseph and Dorothy O'MEAGHER. Joseph was a solicitor who came to NZ from Ireland in 1860's.He commenced practice in Oamaru (NZ) in 1864.
Some years later he moved to Paeroa, then on to Auckland. 1905 has him back in Oamaru where he attempted suicide aged 71.
Joseph was a colourful character, writing to papers frequently, under the pseudonym "Tim Doolan"
My great-uncle was Patrick O'MEAGHER and I am sure the two men were related as their life experiences, characters etc were very similar. They also lived within 50km of each other at times.
Most family members dropped the "O" prefix, so really would love to hear any stories re. that name. And hope to solve the mystery of where Joseph fits in. Cheers, Sheryl Hill (nee Meagher)
