Christopher Clark was from Lincoln Co. Missouri,-had sons James and David and daughter Catherind Clark who went with her husband Joseph McCoy ,to Tx. aqbt. 1827-to be a part of the original DeWitt Colony .They obtained their land deed through Green DeWitt -It is in Spanish originally and from the Spanish Govt.

Our family originates in Halifax Co. N.C. with William Downs --even though the family was first from Va. ---our branch went in 1806 to Morgan Co. Ga. --I am looking for info on either site of our families origen ( They are Scots-Irish and had family in Aberdeen Scotland in the early 1700"s) ---The Tx. branch of the Downs were emigrants from Ga. to Tx. in 1854-I have those well documented -some stayed in Morgan Co. Ga. and Ala.------The Downs of Halifax Co.were under the original Family of William Downs Sr.( From Va) daughters Mary. Sarah, Lucy and -his sons were David and William .William Sr.May have been abrother to Henry Downs Sr.Of Pa. and S.C. but no real contact has been proven. -----Willam Downs Jr. (My line) has been proven to be in Morgan Co. Ga. by 1806 -He died in 1824,in Morgan Co.His Daughter ,Sarah( a widow) moved with him in abt. 1806 with her two sons William Wood Downs and Richard Downs( Myline)-It appears that her brother David also moved with them . Sarah remarried in 1810 in Morgan Co. to William McCullough ( Who died there in 1833) Sarah is thought to have died abt. 1845.( She had Four more children with Mr. McCullouigh:Elizabeth,JinseyJane, Thomas,James and David ---Her son Richard Downs,( Wed Elizabeth Young-dtr. of Moses and Mary Young)Her son William Downs wed Henrietta Sparks -(and in 1854 went to Tx. Eventually to become Prominent in the Waco, Tx. area.)Ricahrd Downs was coronor of Morgan Co. Ga.for nineteen Yrs.-He too, took his family ( and Elizabeth McCullough and her two sons and Jane McCollugh Harper,and husband,Mr.Harper) with his brother William's Family ,to DeWitt Co. Tx. in 1854.William did not like the DeWitt Co. area,of Tx. and moved to the Waco area.-----Richard Downs Family stayed in Gonzales Co.Tx. and raised their families there./ --all this has been doumented--L.D.Rinald
