Searching for parents of John Sherburne (1800-1857). He lived in Boston prior to 1850 when he moved to the Plains of Portsmouth, NH. He may have been an innkeeper for the property he purchased in the Plains at Portsmouth had been a tavern since the 1700's. In Elizabeth Chapman Sherburne obituary in 1859 in the Portsmoth Gazette her home in the Plains at Portsmouth was called The Elms.


His wife was Elizabeth Chapman who was daughter of Jessie Chapman and Elizabeth Merry. John and Elizabeth were married in Boston circa 1835. Elizabeth Merry was the daughter of Jonathan Merry and Elizabeth Rust All of whom were of Boston, MA.


The children of John Sherburne and Elizabeth Chapman were Elizabeth, Thomas Payne and Emma Richardson Sherburne.
John Sherburne (1800-1857) must have been married earlier for in his succession a John Sherburne is listed as as heir.
