mvickers on Family Tree Circles
Journals and Posts
To maybe save confusion, I am the same person as "mnvickers". I have now returned to Australia after living in the UK for 2 years and am starting to research the family history again after a 18 months break.
I have traced 5 generations back with some gaps still to be filled. I received my GGG Grandad's marriage certificate in a hope to find his fathers name and thus been able to find some of his relations. However this section was left blank on the certificate thus holting my progress.
So basically I'm hoping someone else has traced there tree and may be able to help me. I will now document as much info as I have and I will be able to find a connection.
Joel Vickers (Vicars on marriage certificate) Born 1804, Rusombe, Berkshire. Christened 19th August,1804. Married Sarah Norman March 1851 (Wokingham)
Jane Riley Vickers. B. June 1851. M. Edward Sexton 1874
Henry William Vickers B. Dec 1853 M. Lucy Parncott 1879
Emma Sarah Vickers. B. Dec 1855. Had a son, John Edward Plumbe, father not register on birth cert. Plumbe may be fathers surname?
William Vickers. B. Mar 1858. M. Sarah Ann Anley 1882
Jack Vickers. B. 3rd Oct 1860 M. Louisa Ann Strong 26th Dec 1881 and died 8th Apr 1936. He is my GG Grandad.
Edward Vickers. B. Mar 1863. M. Anna Maria Elliott Dec 1888
Joseph Vickers. B Sept 1865. M Rosella Dyke 23 Mar 1889
Alfred George Vickers. B. Sept 1870. M. Sophia Barnes Dec 1892
Jack and Louisa went on to have 14 children with 9 of these being boys. So with Joel and Sarah having 8 children and the extra 14 from Jack and Louisa the family tree does seem to branch out pretty big.
One piece of info that may help and this info hasn't been confirmed is, Jack Vickers B. 1894(Jack and Louisa's 8th children)moved to Long Island New York and ran a Deli.
So to sum up, of the 8 children of Joel and Sarah they went on to have a total of 44 children with 18 being able to carry on the Vickers surname. I have various bits of info for all 44 kids, mainly birth years but am now hoping to fill in some gaps.
Any info would be greatly appricated
