Looking for Francis Colgrave (Colgrove) born April 1806 in Thurleigh, Bedfordshire
Francis Colgrave b 1806 (4/6 April). Thurleigh, Bedfordshire ? Christening.
Father: Francis Colgrave b August,1770
Mother: Mother Ann Smith of whom I know nothing
Francis was a Labourer in Godchester when he was convicted of theft in 1827 at Huntingdon. He had a second conviction in March 1837 also in Huntingdon and was transported for 14years to Van Diemens Land. The ship 'Circassian' left Plymouth in March,1832 arriving in VDL 1833 (?August).
He married Isabella Watkins (1823 - 1890) - (also convicted for theft). She arrived in VDL. in the 'Golden Grove.' They married in 1842. I know nothing more about Isabella.
On receiving their Pardons they worked the land and finally bought land and a home In Evandale, Tasmania where they lived a most respectable life,raising a large family and died within three weeks of each other in 1890 and are buried in the Evandale Cemetry.
