Michael Barry ANGLAND descendants to New Zealand
PLEASE NOTE all birth dates, place of birth etc are pretty much speculation at this time and will be corrected as informatoin comes to hand. A lot of info is added (or deleted) from what is found on the net - your help would be apreciated
.. it is said that the Angland family emigrated to Ireland from France and that in France their name was Angleterre. The Angleterre family were Huguenots and that is probably the reason they left France - Huguenots were members of the Protestant Reformed Church of France

Descendants of Joseph BIELECKI of Gietrzwald, Northern Poland to BIELSKI of Manawatu, New Zealand
Joseph Bielecki was born in Dietrichswalds - now Gietrzwald, Olsztyn County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Northern Poland
- he married Anna Stenkievicz (pronounced Stenkie-vich)
Four of their sons emigrated to New Zealand.
* Joseph Bielski not found yet
* Valentine Bielski arrived in Jan 1876, with fifty-one Poles
* Martin Bielski arrived into Wellington on 4 Aug 1876 on the Fritz Reuter with 425 immigrants, including 259 Poles. Although not on the list for Halcombe, martin was sent there, possibly because their friends the Palenskis had been allocated settlement there. Mr Halcombe took a total of eighty-three men, women and children.
* Carl Bielski into Christchurch in March 1876, with 100 Poles. Valentin & Carl were sent to settle in Jackson Bay, on the West Coast of the South Island. However, Jackson Bay was under appalling management and after two years of floods which destroyed their crops, the settlement collapsed. The settlers were in dire poverty, with Martin's brothers' children forced to wear clothes made from flour bags. Some were relocated to Palmerston and a few to Kimbolton (then called Birmingham). Many, including Martin's brothers, went to Taranaki.
Son Martin Bielski, emigrated to New Zealand on the FRITZ REUTER whixh left Hamburg, Germany on 12th April 1876, arriving in Wellington on 4th August
There were 425 passengers on board, 259 of them Polish
The original surname was Bielecki but English officials recorded the name as it sounded on Martins`s immigration and the name became Bielski. Bielski is also a Polish name and both names have the same meaning. `Biel` means `white`, `Ski` and`cki` are uffixes that change a Polish word into a surname
Both names were also used ocasionally as a nickname for a fair-haired person
Martin was born in 1845
- he married Barbara "Mary" Brodkowski (in Poland)
- Mary was born in 1846 in Subkou (now Subkowy) Tczew County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Northern Poland
- she died in 1913 in Feilding, Manawatu
The Bielski`s were one of the forfounding families to settle Rangiwahia, the northern most town of the Manawatu
Martin had the Rangiwahia Boarding House in 1893 (at least) with "first-class accommodation for travellers and others"
They had 9 children:
