Who was Mary Elizabeth QUILTY - born 1851 Adelaide, South Australia *UPDATE
Who was Mary Elizabeth QUILTY?? born in Adelaide, South Australia on 27th June 1851 - died in Welington, New Zealand on 25th Oct 1933.
She married John Mathew Goldfinch in Wellington New Zealand in June 1875.
John was born in Wellington 28th February 1852, the first of 15 children to George Lynch Darby Goldfinch and Mary Futter.
John and Mary had 7 children:
Alice Theresa Goldfinch b.1876 Wellington - d.1960 Lower Hutt
Arthur Lunch Goldfield b.1877 Wellington - d.1969 Lower Hutt
Olive Goldfinch b.1879 Wellington - d.1896 Island Bay
Percy John Goldfinch b.1881 Wellington d.1969 Epsom, Auckland
Eva Goldfinch b.1884 Wellington - d.1963 Wellington
Leslie (Bob) Goldfinch b.1882 Wellington - d.1882 Wellington
Nellie Goldfinch b.1886 Wellington - d.1886 Wellington
John Mathew Goldfinch died 1895 aged 42 and is buried in Bolton St Cemetery.
Mary Elizabeth Quilty died 1933 aged 82 and is buried with John
Quilty possibly originated in Ireland - Mary was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1851.
Do you know who her parents were?
When they emigrated to Australia?
Her siblings?
How she got to New Zealand?
*Found a passenger list of the JOSEPH ROWAN which left Liverool 21st March 1854, arriving in Port Adelaide, South Australia 16th June 1854.
Amongst the passengers was a Robert Quilty with wife Biddy, 3 year old Mary and infant daughter Anty.
This Mary's birth year matches 'our' Mary - is it her?
Looking for passenger list of the 'STEADFAST' to NSW, Australia 1849
I would like the passenger list for the 'STEADFAST' which sailed from Plymouth, England on 24th November 1848, arriving N.S.W. Australia on 26th March 1849.
Looking for George Lynch Darby Goldfield who was on board and possibly his brother Thomas Barber Goldfinch.
George then moved to New Zealand - would also like to know which ship he sailed in to NZ - I THINK it may have been the EMPEROR (of China)??

MAORI BATTALION in GALLIPOLI 1915 - the Roll of Honour
Maori Battalion Marching Trilogy Tui Teka
About the 28th. Like the other infantry battalions, the Māori Battalion was divided into five companies: four rifle companies of about 125 men each and a headquarters company of around 200. Each company was commanded by a major or captain. The Battalion's four rifle companies (named A, B, C and D) were organised along tribal lines, while HQ Company drew its personnel from all over Māoridom. Each rifle company was divided into three platoons led by a lieutenant. Each platoon was in turn made up of three sections of about 10 men led by a non-commissioned officer (NCO). HQ Company was made up of six specialist platoons: signals, anti-aircraft, mortars, Bren Gun Carriers, pioneers and transport..
The following is a list of casualties in the Maori Contingent on Gallipoli in 1915. It is of those Killed in Action or those who died of Wounds or Disease obtained whilst on active service.

Arthur John & Louis James STENT - Feilding, New Zealand
I have found 2 STENT boys who were sons of a James Stent.
I have a JAMES STENT on the Peck tree but he is obviosuly not their father as Arthur and Louis enlisted in 1902 for the Boer War - too old to be his children.
So who were they - I am sure they were related and belong somewhere on the tree.

- there was a Louis James Stent who served in the Anglo-Boer War Serial Number 5248 and also a Louis James Stent who served in WWI in 1916, Serial Number 12/3835 as a Lance Corporal. Was it the same James? He had a wife in Opotiki by then only listed as Mrs E.I. Stent.
Can you please help with who these boys were.
They were of the same area in Manawtau, New Zealand as the other Stents.
They enlisted on the same day into the same contingent, their ID numbers follow each other etc etc

Both young men were born and educated at Tauranga where the family is well known and widely respected. Trooper G A Douglas was 28 yrs of age. He was a farmer by occupation and for about five years prior to the outbreak of war resided near Gisborne. He enlisted with the main body of the North Auckland Mounted Rifles and was killed in action on August 8. His brother, Trooper T L Douglas, was 26 years of age at the time of his death in action on August 9. For about six years prior to enlisting he resided at Ohakune where he carried on a successful business as a builder and contractor and had a promising future before him. He left in the main body with the 6th, Manawatu, Mounted Rifles. Both brothers took a keen interest in military matters and served in the old volunteers at Tauranga and Gisborne. The young brother was a particularly good rifle shot and won a number of medals and other trophies at various shooting competitions. ENLISTMENT ADDRESS: Peoples Palace, Wellesley St, Auckland - The first New Zealand People?s Palace opened on the corner of Wellesley and Lorne Streets in Auckland on 1 August 1903 providing accommodation for travellers and working people. The People's Palace occupied a prominent position in the centre of the city close to public transport. The building had been a former stable which The Salvation Army converted into very acceptable accommodation for single people and families, with a dining room that provided low cost but nourishing meals. In the same building, but accessible by a separate entrance down the street, they also provided cheap but clean accommodation for men who needed a meal and a bed.
