JOHN LYNDS died in Australia 7-2-1896 - do you know of him?

John was the first husband of Emma Stent - they married in New Zealnad and had 4 children. He was born 1-10-1844 and he died somewhere in Australia in 1896. Do you know of him, or heard of him, I would like to know when he arrived in Australia - it would have been after 1874, when his 4th child was born - and where abouts he stayed. His wife Emma went on to marry Charles Stent and have another 16 children.!!

while looking for Emma STENT I came across this . . .

Emma Stent married my great grandmother's brother and I have just been doing a research on all the women of that family.

I came across this very interesting write up about her father CAPTAIN JAMES HAYTER JACKSON who was one of the first 50 people to emigrate to New Zealand and he set up a whaling station in Marlborough. When he first arrived he spent the early years living with the famous maori chief Te Rauparaha.

BUT, for me, even more interesting is that Emma, his daughter, the woman I was researching, married twice - first marriage (to John Lynds who died in Australia somewhere) she had 4 children to.

The second marriage to Charles Stent she had another 16 CHILDREN TO !!! - (actually 10, see link below)

3 years on and the above info has now been amended after much research and HEAPS of help from Malcolm - read here: Emma JACKSON-LYNDS

CECIL b.1910 and GEORGE b.1902 STENT died in AUSTRALIA

Two sons of James and Sarah (nee WHitehead) Stent - both died in Australia but I have no death dates and no spouses for them, nor do I know where in Australia. Maybe you have heard of them.

looking for STANLEY OKE

Stanley was married to Emma Stent - a daughter of James and Sarah Stent b.1900 - they were living in New Zealand but doesn't mean he was born there

CHOCOLATE EASTER EGGS

This year in the UK alone - people will spend 320 million UK dollars on Easter eggs

This equates to (roughly)

... 5.26 UK pounds per person in the UK
... 34.60 AU dollars per person in Australia
... 2.10 US dollars per person in the USA
... 19.45 Canadian dollars per person in Canada
...194.00 NZ dollars per person in New Zealand

. . and I didn't even have one this year :(

TWINS - Thomas and Louisa LIND b.28-12-1872 Blenheim NZ

It would be interesting to find out more about these two.

Louisa Lynd married Charles McINYRE in 1897 and they had 10 children
- Charles was born in 1872 in Drury, South Auckland. He died in 1941 in Wanganui
- Louisa died aged 62 in 1934 in Ohingaiti, Rangitikei

Her twin, Thomas Lynd married Eleanor PEARSON in Waitotara, south Taranaki in 1896
- I have 6 children for them at this time
- Thomas died aged 87 in 1960 in Feilding

Their parents were Emma JACKSON (1855-1927, daughter of whaler James Hayter Jackson & Eliza ROIL) and her 1st husband John LYND

Emma's second husband was Charles STENT
- Chalres was a son of Charles STENT & Sarah PECK

... message from Malcolm on 22 Feb 2011: Emma Jackson married John Lynds and gave birth to four of his children - the fourth was born after meeting Charles Stent as she arrived at Foxton from Picton heavily pregant. Charles registered Harry Herbert as a STENT rather than his conception name LYNDS. Then living with Charles in his small cabin they had another 10 children before they were married much to her daughters discust!! The children slept up in the ceiling of the cabin. Emma is buried with her second husband Charles at Ohingaiti Cemetery
