Nivens on Family Tree Circles

For months I have been trying to find my ancestors and in the last two days I have been successful. Among the ones I have found are my Great Grandfather John Halpin(1820-1896), my Great Grandmother Margaret Halpin(McInnes)(1829-1934). Also my Grand Father John Halpin(1852-1875.Also my Great Grandfather's 5 children.

I am convinced that my father existed but that his parents did not. Oh I do know their names - John and Mary(ne Darcy)and that they married in Maryborough Queensland on 28th August 1875, but then they vanished.

They didn't exist before the marriage and Mary didn't appear again until she died in Brisbane on 14th August 1921. I contacted the Maryborough Historical Society and they found reference to 20 John Halpins but none of the ages matched the one I am looking for. They also found 4 Mary Darcys but once again the ages do not agree.
If these two people (if they existed) were criminals could not have hidden more perfectly. So much so that I am starting to believe that I will never find any other ancestors.

I am trying to find my Charteris roots. So far I have tracked back as far as my great grandfather Alexander born in 1831. His parents were James and Elizabeth-ne Cow. I have read that the Charteris line goes back to the time of Macbeth. That would be real exciting to find ancestors dueling and fighting wars with names from the history of Scotland.
