I am trying to trace what happened to my Grandparents. The details that I know are that they had a child called Margaret born 24 april 1935. Soon after in May 1935 Lilian(teacher) and Anthony (Sloicitors clerk, known as Tony) emmigrated to South Africa to take up a new job. Margaret was fostered out at less than 1 month old and the intention was that her parents would return within 18 months. Lilian died about a year after leaving the UK and Tony did not return to re-unite with his daughter. Why is still a mystery and one we would like to solve. The advent of WW2 without doubt had an impact on the events that followed with all of Margarets closest family being killed in London during the Blitz. If any one can shed light on what happened to Lilian and Anthony Gordon it would be much appreciated. As an interesting historical aside to all of this, Margarets legal guardian was Charlott Caroline Dorothy Cribbett, known as Dorothy. She was the unfortunate victim of the Valentines park lightning deaths in Ilford London 1939 where 7 people wher killed by a sudden thunderstorm as they took cover in a metal shelter.
