I know that my dad tried to enlist in the Navy durring World War 2 but could only get a desk job in the Army due to a bad back. He also played minor league baseball in Mt. Vernon, Illinois with the Braves and the Pirates, he was also a bus driver in Mt. Vernon. I also know that he tried out for the Chicago Cubs.
