I am looking for any information on my maternal grandfathers side of the family. My grandfather was Parata Parata Minarapa who had 6 children with his wife Te Huihuinga before dropping the surname Minarapa & taking his first name as a surname. He & my grandmother went on to have 10 more children who were Parata. My mother was one of the 6 born a Minarapa.
My grandparents lived at a place called Te Maruata in Whangarei, New Zealand, but I believe his people originated from the Taranaki area.
Any information would be much appreciated.
