I am most grateful for a family photo of my great grandfather and great grandmother (Hyman and Rosie Morris - he had changed his surname from Korolnek). His daughter (my Nana) was disowned by her Jewish family for marrying outside the faith and I grew up not knowing anything about her family or where she came from. Mum didn't know much and I have been searching for answers for 25 years.
After mum passed away in 2004, the realization that there was no-one left from her side of the family prompted me to start searching again. Thank goodness for the internet! I was contacted by a lady who was researching Hyman Morris on behalf of one of his grandsons (my mother's first cousin) and she put me in touch with him. He put me in touch with another cousin from my great grandfather's first marriage and that is where I got the photo.
This photo has a very special place in my heart because it is the first and only photo I have of Hyman and Rosie. It also led me to find other cousins from Hyman's first marriage and was the tip of the iceberg (so to speak) of all the other photos and information (of which there is heaps) I now know about my Nana's family as well as finding actual members of my family that I now keep in touch with through Facebook and email.
