Looking for Hales

Hi I have been searching for my great grandparents for the last 30yrs, with very little success.

I have birth and marriage records of my grandmother and her siblings, which state their parents were John Hales a Tinplate worker and Mary Ann Hales formely Evans.

John only appears on the 1881 census says his birth is Middlesex,Mary is calling herself Maria.

John dies on 22 July 1890 aged 44yrs, I pondered for a long time wondering if I had the correct death certificate, then I came across LABG/200/08 Norwood Schools, Elder Road, West Norwood. Admission and Discharge Register 1890-1893.
This register has John's 3 sons entering on 16 July 1890 and the address for Mary Ann is the same as on the death certifcate 65 East Street Lambeth Walk.

Its not clear if John entered before the boys,as it says father John in the Infirmary.

Mary An tips up on the 1891 census as being born St Martins Middlese.
1901 she is Anna A Stagg with 2 Hales stepchildren.
1911 she is Mary Ann again married 15 yrs to Alfred Stagg.

Next I find her death, she died 28 Dec 1916 at 1 Ernest Street Bermondsey, the death was registered by Alfred Stagg.
She was Mary Ann Louise Hales widow of John Hales tinplate worker.

Looking for Hales in London England

Hi, I've been searching many years for my gr grandparents, JOHN HALES (it could be John Walter).
JOHN was born about 1846 in Middlesex. He was a tinplate worker, and died in Lambeth Workhouse Infirmary on 22 July 1890 aged 44yrs, I have found no record for a burial.

JOHN had a wife/ partner MARY ANN EVANS (recent death certificate gives her name as MARY ANN LOUISE HALES)I can find no marriage for them.

I have found and sent for a marriage for a JOHN AND ANNIE BURREL 1868, I then found her death 1876.

JOHN AND MARY ANN first born was;

22 April 1877 at 1 Short Street, Newington Surrey. John Walter.

17 Sept 1879 at Rural cottage Linford Street Battersea, Frederick James.

22 Dec 1881 at 28 Townsend Street, St Saviours Surrey.James Joseph.

17 April 1884 at 28 Townsend Street, St Saviours Surrey. Caroline Elizabeth.

19 Nov at 8 Elsted Street , St Saviours, Surrey. Emma Eliza.

At some time in 1890 Eliza was born (I think Battersea)

I later found the entry Norwood Schools 1890-93 Admission and discharge book, which places John and his boys there on 16 July 1890, MARY ANN at 65 East Street Lambeth Walk.

I have also found 2 baptism records for John Walter and Caroline Elizabeth both in 1884 at Lady Margaret Church Southwark.

This is the total of my knowledge of my family.
