I am looking for my wife's family in Germany any help would be most grateful

My wife's Great(x3)Father was born 13 May 1824, Richard Beckefeld in Hassel District, Hoyan, kingdom of Hanover, Germany. Richard migrated to Victoria, Australia from Germany in or around 1853 with his wife Anna Catharina (Kessner) & son also named Richard. They settled in Richmond & are now buried nearby in the pioneer section of Carlton cemetery in Victoria. Australia.
I am unable to locate any information on his parents in Germany. Any info of the life & times of this era Would be much appreciated
