I have a great start on the Brinkers, but I need help with Anna Powers. Beyond what the census says about her birthplace, I know nothing of her family.

This individual was born in 1813, and emigrated to America before 1837. Persons I believe to be his children
were a son Jean (also known as Jeanty, Genty, or John) born in New Orleans, LA, in 1837, and Eliza or
Elizabeth born in 1842 or 43. Eliza is my GGgrandmother.

The Jean Boubede I am searching for died in New Orleans March 13, 1855. His obituary was published in the French-language section of The New Orleans Bee newspaper. He was 42 when he died.

I would like to find out about his birth and emigration to America - how he got here & his port of entry.
I have visited several French web sites in an effort to locate this surname without any luck. This makes me think his name may have been changed at some point. There were very few Boubedes in America before 1870, & all are in New Orleans except for my GG grandmother. My goal is to connect Jean Boubede Sr to Eliza or to rule him out as a relative.

I studied French for about 8 years in school, and can read the language, but I'm not good at composition, so I need to write in English :)
