I am looking to build my family tree. I know my family (McFarlane) came from Ireland when the Potatoe Famine was going on some migrated to Toronto and some to Manitoba I believe.

father Kenneth Robert McFarlane, born Dec. 31, 1944 in Toronto Ontario, died Feb. 9, 2009 in Haliburton, Ontario.

mother Darlene Ellen McFarlane (nee Sjoblom) born Aug 17, 1948 in Toronto On died April 20th, 1997 in Scarborough On

--> They had 3 children Patricia Mae McFarlane (b 12/19/67), Bradley Gerald McFarlane (b 08/05/70), Jason Robert McFarlane (b 12/03/1975)

My grandfather Gerald Ralph McFarlane, Brother Nelles Vrooman McFarlane, born Jan. 10, 1913 in Lennox, his sister Gladys', born May 19, 1909 in Lennox and Addington, with their father being George McFarlane and mother Ada May (Mayhew) Arnold. I found their marriage record, August 14, 1907 in Carleton, Ontario, the second wife being Delma Close that he married Nov. 25, 1925.

My great-grandfather, William McFarlane, born Jan. 8, 1831 in Ireland, died 1923. his wife's name as Margaret Jane Busby, born 1840, died 1925. I found this family in the 1891 census in Lennox with their son George (born in 1880 in Ontario.

Then I found William in the 1851 census in Grey Co. Ontario, living with his father George, born 1796 in Ireland and wife Ann, born 1809 in Ireland. They seem to have come to Canada around 1840 (around the potatoe famine in Ireland), and they are members of the Church of England.
