I believe "Mejerskan" means dairymaid
Ida Emilia b.1864 had a sister Olga Helena Engblom b.1858 they both may have been illegitimate, their mother was HELENA CHRISTINA HENRIKSDOTTER ANJALIN
OTTO ALBERT SODERHOLM
In 1892 Otto deserted his wife and son to go to the USA. He arrived in Wisconsin where he later remarried Swedish girl Maria Stina Johnson in 1896 in Milwaukee and had two children, Ernest b.1897 d.1897 and Mabel b.1898.
When Maria's father died, the family immigrated to Sweden. They had two more children Inez b.1901 and Gustav "Harry" (funny how his nickname was Harry when he had a half brother called Harald living, whom as far as I know probably didn't know his half sibling existed) Gustav married in 1945 but never had children, he died in 1978 and the two girls died in the 1930s of tuberculosis.
Otto's parents were Josef Josefsson SDERHOLM and Klara Gustava Michelsdotter EKLUND.
Parish records show Ida as still married in 1935 when she died.
Reg Emery b.1899 in Bristol came to Australia when he was about 22 yrs old possibly with a brother. I think he was a boilermaker in England. Possibly in the british merchant navy. Reg said he 'jumped ship' so have no idea when he came to Australia, the only shipping record I can find is in 1922 R Emery age 22 came from New Zealand on the Paloona 2.
He often said he was the oldest of 13 children and that his father married a few times. On the 1911 Census two of his brothers were Douglas b.1902 and Cecil b.1906, there was another child deceased.
His father; William Robert Emery b.1862 Cardiff, Glamorgan,Wales occ. Electrical Engineer Glam Cardif,
mother; Annie Marks b.1865 Carmarthenshire, Wales. she died before 1911 as William was a widower on the 1911 Census with 3 sons Reginald, Douglas and Cecil, another child had previously died (possibly when Annie died not sure)
He married Lucy Lawrence in 1912
Reg married my grandmother Alma in 1938 in Victoria.
He died aged 76 in Jan. 1976 Dandenong, Victoria, Australia
I received Reg's brother Douglas Emery's birth record and his mothers name was Catherine Marks, I still haven't been able to find any birth record for Reg not even under Marks his birthday (as far as we all knew) 13th November 1899 in Bristol. any help would be appreciated.
Paul Milkins was convicted of theft and sentenced to death in April 1824. He was then reprieved by the King, sentenced to 21 years hard labour and transported from Somerset, England in 1824 on the Princess Charlotte to Van Diemens Land, now Tasmania.
Here he married an emmigrant from Ireland Jane Walsh in January 1834 and three children were born in Van Diemens Land, Elizabeth, William and Nicholas. A fourth child James was born in Victoria, Australia. James stated on his marriage records he was born in Devon England and that his parents were Nicholas and Jane Milkins, probably to hide the convict connection as he was marrying into gentry.
Milkins was a fairly rare surname in Australia, at least up until Paul's children started their families, William had at least four
children and James eleven. Elizabeth died very young having been smothered by her mother accidentally whilst sleeping. There was an
inquest which delivered a verdict of accidental death. I have not found anything about Nicholas what so ever.
There has been a variation in the spelling of the surname, Milikins for one, which started with George, a son of James.
Evangeline Milkins (My great great grandmother) was born around 1862 at Bungaree, Victoria to William Milkins and his wife Ellen Laythorne. Evangeline married Abraham Lawson on 6 March 1880 at Daylesford, Victoria and had about ten children. Evangeline's death record states her parents as Thomas Tinsley and Ellen Parish. Thomas was Ellen's 3rd husband.
