PRAID / PRAED James Newington Bagpath, Gloucester

James was born in 1711 to Charles PRAED and Ann GAMBOL, he married Phillis BURTON in London 1735. They had Sarah 1737, Mary 1739, Ann 1741, Phillis 1742 and James 1744, all born in London.

Thier daughter Ann PRAID married Bernard HALFPENNY in 1764 in London, they had Ann 1764, Thomas 1766 and Bernard 1768.

Ann HALFPENNY married John TEBBUTT in 1788. in 1801 they migrated to Australia as free settlers on the ship Nile with thier children Elizabeth Ann, Thomas William, John and Ann.

Elizabeth Ann married 1/ Robert CHAPMAN 2/John ASHCROFT

FINLAY from Fife, Scotland

Maurice FINLAY was born abt 1709 Luechars, Fife (father John,mother Unknown). Maurice married Elizabeth DUFF born 1707 Luechars (parents Alexander DUFF and Jean WALKER)

Maurice and Elizabeth had the following children:
Mary 1732, James 1734, Alexander 1736, Janet 1738, Thomas 1741, Elizabeth 1745, Helen 1748.

Janet, my ancestor, was married in 1763 to Andrew LEETCH born 1737,Kilconquhar, Fife.
Their children were:
Alexander 1763, Christian and Elizabeth 1764, Janet 1766, Euphame 1771, Andrew 1777, Agnes 1779 all born in Kilconquhar.

Christian LEETCH married Andrew EWEN (parents William McEWEN & Jean FAICHNEY)in 1785 Dunfermline, Fife.

Thier daughter Elizabeth married in 1805 Dunfermline to Andrew SMITH (son of John SMITH & Elizabeth FARMER)

They had a son Andrew born Halbeath, Fife who married Janet SMITH (daughter of James SMITH & Christian CAMPBELL)

He migrated to Australia in 1854 with his family on the John Bunyan.

Samuel JAMES born 1823 St Ewe, Cornwall>Victoria Australia

Samuel was the son of William James and Maria nee Jacob. Maria was born 1790, daughter of William Jacob and Loveday nee Pennyliggon. William's parentage is unknown.

Samuel emigrated to Australia where he married Margaret Jones of Shropshire. They had 9 children.

Their son, also Samuel, was born in 1860 Ballarat, Vic.
He married Emma Sparnon, she was the daughter of Henry Sparnon and Elizabeth nee Best.

Samuel and Emma had 4 children, all born in Barrapoort, Vic.
Samuel died in 1925, Emma in 1929,both are buried in Bendigo.

DARCY D'ARCY Mary Anne born Conaught, Galway Ireland 1834

Not much is known of Mary Anne..havent found her for sure on any shipping records. She married John Hansen Howarth (see Howarth entry) in Melbourne 1853.
She died in 1920 in Victoria.

Hanson HOWARTH born 1815 Manchester, Lancashire.

Hanson/Hansen also known as John was born 1815 in Manchester to John and Maria and was a convict transported to NSW on John IV in 1837. After he obtained his Ticket of Leave he went to Victoria where in 1853 he married Mary Ann D'arcy who was born in 1834 Galway, Ireland. John and Mary Anne had 7 children (registered under variants such as Howard, Howorth, Haworth, Howitt etc). Thier daughter Maria born 1855 married John George Ashcroft (aka Ashworth) in Inglewood, Vic in 1874. John was the son of John Ashcroft and Frances nee Taber of NSW.

BUCHANAN Family Bracadale, Isle of Skye, Inverness, Scotland & Victoria, Australia

John Buchanan was born abt 1808 to Donald Buchanan and Mary Campbell. He married Catherine McDonald abt 1825, she was the daughter of Patrick McDonald and Catherine McLean born abt 1807.
They emigrated to Australia on the Georgiana in 1852 with their James, John, John (yes, there was 2, and neither died young)Mary, Roderick (Rory), Catherine and Jessie Priscilla. Jessie was my ancestor, she married William Thomas Harvey Trice, who was born in Portsea, Hampshire abt 1832.

PRIMMETT Elizabeth alias Diamond ,London, Tasmania & Victoria, Australia

Elizabeth Primmett was born in Shoreditch, London in 1818 to Jonathon Elisha Primmett and Elizabeth Silso. She was livng with a young man named Diamond at the time of her arrest for theft and transported to Tasmania. Apparently young Diamond had been transported prior to her and the family story says she was arrested so she could follow him. She instead met and married Charles Best. The Best family were Tasmanian Pioneers.
