So Many Unasked Questions About Philip Williams and Ann Vest

On the marriage license between Philip Williams and Ann Vest, is the listed bondsman, Isaac Vest. An Isaac Vest old enough to stand as bondsman, (whatever that means), is not mentioned in the official Vest family website. If anyone could locate this Isaac Vest, it would greatly help solving the ever-present mysteries of the Williams Vest union. Another problem is whether their children were illegitimate or whether Ann ever gave birth to any of them with Philip. If they were born in the 1750s and only married in 1808, then they would have been having children at nearly 60! Not impossible, but unlikely. This gives rise to the next problem- in order for any of them to have been on the Guion-Miller Rolls, they would have had to have been born legitimately. Perhaps the legitimate offspring of illegitimate children were ok? The ones who appeared on the Rolls apparently were grandkids of Philip and Ann.

So many questions about this affair! The more that are asked, the more which pop up!

Kitcura Williams

To further confuse everyone, a young child of Edgar P Williams and Elizabeth Carr/Kerr was named Kitcura in the 1860 census. She would have been born in about 1857. She may have married or passed on, as she is no longer with the pair on the 1880 census. I not only cannot find her, I cannot find ANYONE ever being named that before or since. There were about half a dozen folks who turned in Pennsylvania with KITCHURA as a last name, but I can find no other source for that as a first or last name at all. Given this line's fascination with naming folks after kin and ancestors, I though MAYBE it was Elizabeth's mother's maiden name or such. Also, I know from first hand experience, (involving my Great Grandmother whom I personally knew until she passed when I was 12), census takers often spelled what they HEARD, and many accents caused outrageous results. Keturah was a Bible name. It could have been really that. Anyway, if anyone knows of anyone named Kitcura as first OR last name, please let me know. I cannot imagine that they just made that up, although it is possible.

Thanks.

Resuming My Search for the Connections in the Williams Family

I had to take a short break from my search, because my trail took a sudden left turn. My last findings threw everything I thought I knew into a tailspin. So I do not know if my John M. Williams is likely to be a direct descendant of Philip Williams and Ann Vest. I think he is a descendant of Keziah Elizabeth Brooks, possibly. There are many children involved and lots of Williamses. His father Edgar P Williams was born in Virginia about 1810. I would love to find more info about the Williams family of Virginia and where this Edgar P came from. Does anyone have info about Keziah Eliabeth Brooks's children? There are more in this family than Philip. For your convenience, I will let you know what I have seen: the 1880 census, as well as the one from 1860. There is also a death certificate for a daughter, married name McClain. Other than these, I have nothing on any of the half a dozen kids or them. No birth certificates, death certificates, marriage licenses, or anything else to give clues or additional info.

Thanks!

Searching for Edgar P. Williams, born abt 1810 in Virginia

Edgar P Williams was born about 1810 in Virginia. He married Elizabeth Carr or Kerr who was born in SC. I am finding only a 1880 census and one in 1860. I do not need these, only additional info about Edgar P or his wife Elizabeth.

Thanks

Looking for Someone to Post Books to Open Library: "No More Muffled Hoofbeats" and "Sam Williams: Printer's Devil"

Greetings Fellow Genealogists!

I am seeking two books about local history that may mention my ancestors. As per the title of this query, "No More Muffled Hoofbeats," and "Sam Williams: Printer's Devil" (whats up with that title, anyway)?

Even though they are mentioned on Open Library, no one has added them to be read online. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to scan and post the texts of these two books online? I would love to read them, but the closest library to me currently is 100 miles, and I cannot go to it.

Any info on the Williams, Vest and Brooks families as they pertain to each other is highly appreciated!

Looking for assistance with the Philip Williams Ann Vest line

Any info welcome.
