family of John and Mary Rogers from crowan/Nancygollen Cornwall,UK who came on the "Essex" 1843 to New Plymouth New Zealand. MARY ROGERS was the first european woman to be murdered ( 1854) in the developing New Plymouth settlement in New Zealand .Am descended from two members of John and Mary Rogers family- my mother was a descendant of William who married Eliza Scandlyn and my father was a descendants of Elizabeth Jane who married James Jones and later widower Mathew Roberts.

William ATKINSON ( uncertain when he arrived in NZ) and wife SARAH ATTWOOD( arrived in New Zealand on the "Merope" with her parents.William and Sarah married at Southbridge, Canterbury New Zealand and worked throughout the Canterbury region before moving North to the Taranaki area.

George Whyte, from New Aberdour, Aberdeenshire, Scotland who came with first wife Margaret BEATON in 1853 on the Lancashgire Witch. They settled at Cust where George had land at Poyntz Road.
