Grunkle on Family Tree Circles

Hi,

I am trying to trace my family line on my father's side of the family but am hitting a brick wall with my grandfather - Walter Francis McAteer. He was born in 1877 in County Antrim possible Balycastle. He may have been in the royal Navy or Merchant Fleet prior to 1917 but was working for the GWR based in Newport Monmouthshire when he married my Grandmother Amelia Humphries (nee Oakey) in 1918.

He died in 1940 in Newport Monmouthshire. His father's name seems to have been Partick.

Any pointers would be a great help.
