Looking for Noonan of Cork
My great grandmother was Deborah Noonan. She married Jeremiah Halahan in Cork on 03 Oct 1870 in the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Cork. She nominates her father as being, Patrick and a store keeper. She went to India with or after him ... he was with the British Army - 63rd Regiment of Foot.
They had two children, Mary, born in Hazareebaugh (now Hazaribagh), Bengal, India on 27 June 1872 and Henry, born in Jhansi on 17th Feburary 1875.
Deborah died on 19 Jul 1877 in Lahore, Punjab aged just 24 years giving her a dob of circa 1853.
There is a possibility that there is a family of Sheridans connected to Deborah but this is based on very scant evidence ... a photograph of two unknown gentlemen and the name Sheridan on the rear.
If you have a Noonan family (possibly a Cork family) with a missing 'link' by the name of Deborah (Deboragh)(dob circa 1853) then I would love to hear from you.
Finding Jeremiah Hallahan circa 1840
I have only just recently found out that my great grandfather was a Jeremiah Hallahan and that he was married to Debora (Unknown). They had a son, Henry, born Jhansi, India on the 17th of February 1875. They also had a daughter, Mary. I believe she too was born in India.
My father and all of his children were born in Dublin, Ireland and we 'understood' our name to be from either Cork or Waterford. It is my hope to re-establish a connection to our Hallahan roots and I would like to find out what Debora's family name was and where they hailed from.
As you can see my information is scant, however I do have a photo of Jeremiah Hallahan circa 1870 and one I believe to be of Debora.
