Islandgirl on Family Tree Circles

My 5th great grandfather was born somewhere in England. The earliest mention of him appears in records that show he lived in New York for a time before he traveled to the Bahamas c. 1782. I've found correspondence that indicates he may have come from Yorkshire. If anyone has even the smallest bit of information to share I'll be eternally grateful.
