Moka on Family Tree Circles

My grandmother's maiden name was ANDRZYCKI. Her father's name was Johann and her mother's name was Anna nee THORACK. They lived in the Wanne-Eickel, Herne area of Germany. Before that I am linking them to Poland due to the name itself, the fact they were a coal mining family and had ties to Katowice, Poland etc. From there I don't know yet.

The surname is very rare! Not even the honourable Fred Hoffmann, surname expert, could figure it out!

By accident found one Joseph Andrzycki in the Poznan Project marriage database. But it's an isolated tidbit.

I need help! Have you heard of this surname? Have you ever seen it in research pertaining to a Slavik country? Russia? Anything?

PS The same is happening for Anna Thorack my great grandmother, very unusual last name...

Mardiros SIMONIAN/SIMONJAN was my great grandfather. He was born in 1887 in Marash, Armenia (now Kahramanmaras, Turkey). Orphaned in the Hamidian Massacres of 1895 he grew up in the Syrian Orphanage of Jerusalem where he was sponsored by a German church. When he was 18 he left for Germany to find his sponsors in Cologne. He married Martha Agnes Hoffmann and raised a family in Cologne. He worked as a heavy duty mechanic, mostly on train locomotives.

I am looking for any other info at all, especially how to trace roots in Armenia, via church record or are there other ways?

Looking for descendents of Fritz SOMMERFELD. Fritz was from a German family that had immigrated to the US in the mid 1800's? They lived in Washington County Texas. Fritz was a farmer but at one point went to sea as a sailor either in the navy or on other ships. He came back to the 'old country' either through his work or to visit in about 1914. He married Lydia Lieke in 1909 and he died in December of 1963 in Texas.

I have traced some information back to his father and grandfather but always could use more!

I have been hot on the trail of my Saenger ancestors again, or is it still! They were farmers in the Eifel area of Germany. Ellscheid and Gillenfeld are the village names that are coming up. But there aren't many Saenger's there. I have figured out that they most likely came from the Luxembourg/Belgium area many years before where I am at right now, the late 1700's, 1800's and into the 1900's. The name is more popular in those country's records. The search continues.

My grandfather's name was Oskar DOB 1914, his mother Elfrieda, his grandmother Christine.

Any tips on finding archives, registries etc in the Eifel would be very helpful. Also, does anyone have any good search avenues for Lux/Bel?

My great grandmother's name was Anna THORACK. She was born in approx. 1860's. She was married to Johann ANDRZCKI (Born in 1866). They had 7 children. They were: Ellie, Francisca, Helena, Anna, Alois, Hans and Antonia. Antonia was my grandmother. They were a coal mining family originally coming from Poland to Germany in the late 1800's. Before Poland I don't know where they came from, possibly a Slavik country.

I am having a hard time finding any information on the surname THORACK. I have even contacted William Hoffman, the Polish name expert and he has not heard of it before. I have not found it in any databases either.

Any information would be helpful. Is your last name THORACK?
