As far As I know my family is from Dyer county Tennessee, Paragould Arkansas and them to Washington state.
My 4x great grandfather was Arthur Bowen born abt 1790 married to a lady named Jane. Arthur was born in Virginia but moved to Tennessee With at least one or two of his brothers, David and William and possibly Alexander and Charles.
They all eventually settled in Dyers County TN.
Arthur and Jane had several children: John B Bowen (My 3x great grandfather) (born abt 1824 died before 1865), VM(Virgil Meek) Bowen, Reece Bowen,and VV Bowen all born in Dyers County Tennessee.
Virgil Meek and his family moved to Texas, VV was a female according to the census, I do not know what happened to Reece or VV Bowen.
John B Bowen had several children with Rebecca Jane Watson(Bowen)(born 1832 died in 1926): John Hiram Bowen,
Allie Bowen, Lilly Eudora Bowen, Ebenezer Bowen, James "Jas" L Bowen (My 2x great grandfather), Mavis Jean, Robert D Bowen, Sara Jane Bowen
James L Bowen (JL or Jas) was born in 1856 and died in 1937, at a young age he went to Paragould Arkansas and married Martha Jane Jackson and they had several children: Lillie Bowen, Robert David Bowen, Elzie Ethridge Bowen, John William Bowen, Luther Bowen and one other. All Born in Paragould Arkansas. Robert David (My great grandfather), his wife Cora Jane Dunningan, and 3 children moved to Washington state.
