WALKER JOHN HENRY d Rutherglen 19/5/1899 m LEE Mary

John Henry Walker
The only source of written information is his death certificate. Some deductions have been taken from that to calculate the following:

Born (probably) 1845.

Conflicting information on where he was born - either York or Lincoln.

Possible date of arrival in Australia 1864, possible age, 19.

His occupation is listed as Watchmaker, and place of burial Carlyle Cemetery, Rutherglen, Victoria. It stated also that he had been in the colony of Australia for 35 years, which would see him arriving here aged 19 in 1864.

No information about how he came to Australia.

Married possibly, 1874 MARY ANNE LEE, who purportedly died aged 99 and may have been oriental. (John Henry may have been married previously as there is a family story that he married on board the ship on the way out from England and somewhere in my searches over the years I found a possible connection to Mary Broad, though I have not been able to find that again!)
