I consider myself the family historian of my branch. I love researching my genealogy and have done so much work on my 'tree' that many other people are starting to contact me, because eventually I am ending up with their ancestors names in my tree too!
I have learnt so much but as usual you find that the more you know, the less you know.
I also find that this hobby seems to satisfy my thirst for history and I find it funny now that when I studied that subject in my school days, I loved it then as well.

Why not put your tree on-line, it's not that scary and not everyone can see it as you have to give permission rights. Grow your tree with 'hot matches' of your surname every fortnight. Fantastic, I have gone from 300 names to 6000 in 3 months! No joke.
