George W. McCoy was my grandfather. Records indicate that he was born in Harrison, Boone, Arkansas, United States on 11 November 1870. I have documentation in his obituary when he passed away on 7 December 1957 in Bakersfield, Kern, California, United States.

I have a copy of his application for social security number and claim. That document lists his father as George McCoy and his mother as Mary Jones.

My aunt Bonnie Loraine McCoy Flaming who was the last child from the marriage of George W. McCoy and Katherine Lillian "Kate" McLaughlin of Versailles, Morgan, Missouri, United States had documented that her father only had a 3rd grade education and his parents died when he was very young and that he possibly lived with an uncle. I do not know any name for an uncle. I know that there are several McCoy's that lived in the Versailles, Morgan, Missouri, United States area, but I haven't been able to make any connections through the US Federal Census's. I really do not know how he got from Arkansas to Missouri.

I am looking for information on my Grand Father, George W. McCoy. The information that I have on him is that he was born 11 Nov 1870 in Harrison, Boone, Arkansas. That is the only information that I have about his birth, no information on his family. The 1900 US Federal Census lists his father as born in Kentucky and his mother in Tennessee. The next information I have is in May 1896 in Hawcreek Township, Morgan, Missouri, which is a marriage license.
